This year the main hall at the Maroochydore Community Centre celebrates 40 years. Officially opened on 28 October 1978, this was the first phase of the centre's development.
With the addition of the Day Respite Centre in August 1987, the centre has become a vital community hub providing a meeting place, social support, respite care and more than one million meals to the aged and elderly community on the central Sunshine Coast.
After all this hard work and wear and tear, the centre is receiving a well-deserved upgrade. The most urgent of these is the replacement of the roof damaged over the storm season.
This work will start on Monday 11 June. It’s extensive work that will require the closure of the hall and the relocation of services until the works are expected to be completed in mid-late September.
From 11 June, Suncare’s regular day respite and social support services will relocate to the Kawana Forest Meeting Place, please see further details below.
Our services will continue as normal and there will be no changes to the existing schedules. Transport services will also operate as normal.
