Commonwealth Home Support Programme services are designed for people who are independent but require a helping hand around their home so they can continue living their current lifestyle. The focus is on supporting the person’s strengths and creating goals so they may feel safe, and remain living independently at home.
Are you eligible for CHSP in-home support services?
Individuals who find it difficult to manage everyday activities, such as grocery shopping, food preparation or household cleaning, may be eligible for support and services offered at home. You may be eligible for the Commonwealth Home Support Programme if you are:
- 65 years or older, (or 50 years or older if, you identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander), or
- 50 years or older (or 45 years or older, if you identify as an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander) and on a low income, you are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.
How do I find out if I’m eligible?
To find out about eligibility for in-home support services, an assessment needs to be organised by visiting My Aged Care an Australian Government website. My Aged Care is the starting point for accessing Australian Government funded services. Once registered with My Aged Care, an assessor from the Regional Assessment Service will visit you. If you would like to talk to someone about what to expect when you contact My Aged Care, please call us and we can explain the process to you.
