Kerryn Andreasen has been volunteering for almost 2 years at Suncare Meals on Wheels in Maroochydore, and her dedication to supporting the senior Sunshine Coast community was formally recognised at a recent award ceremony. Kerryn was nominated by a number of Suncare staff and was backed by many co-volunteers who have worked with her over the years and attest Kerryn’s devotion to helping others.
Suncare Chief Executive Russell Mason said, “Kerryn is a respectful, friendly member of the team and her ability to transition swiftly from one task to another is an amazing talent. We are immensely lucky to have volunteers such as Kerryn helping our community.” Originally employed at Queensland Meals on Wheels for four years, Kerryn moved to the Maroochydore facility in early 2018 to assist Suncare with meeting the needs of their senior customers.
“I honestly was in shock when my name was announced! I feel very honoured and grateful to everyone involved for this completely unexpected recognition” said Kerryn. The Suncare Annual Conference was held in October at The Sebel in Pelican Waters, Caloundra with several fellow volunteers in attendance to cheer her on. All conference attendees were delighted that Kerryn received this award to recognise her outstanding volunteer work in the community services industry.
Kerryn is one of more than 200 dedicated volunteers who give their time and expertise to the Sunshine Coast community. The volunteers work over five areas; Community Visitors Scheme, Community transport, Maroochydore Day Respite Centre, Meals on Wheels kitchen and Meals on Wheels delivery drivers.
