Working Carers Program

The Suncare Community Services Commonwealth Respite & Carelink Centre’s Working Carers Program provides flexible respite care and support for employed carers of frail older people that is responsive to the needs of both the carer and the person they care for.

The extra services funded under this Australian Government funded program can make a big difference to carers who also want to work, want to return to work, or they need to remain in work and require assistance with the person they care for.

We recognise that Carers who help older people, usually family or friends, are making a great contribution to our community, but should also be supported in earning an income.

By recognising and assisting the efforts of carers many people being cared for are able to stay in their own homes instead of being forced into residential care.
