Maroochydore Community AlternativeTransport Service

The Maroochydore Community Alternative Transport and Social Service is funded by a joint Commonwealth/State Program - H.A.C.C. (Home and Community Care).
This is a new service, which commenced in June 2002 as an extension of present services of Day Respite Care.

 

The transport service is designed to assist frail older people and people with a disability within our community to shop, enjoy social outings, and attend medical and other appointments. The social support service is designed to assist with meeting the person's social needs, and/or accompanying them in order to participate in community life.

 

 

Areas Covered

The service provides door-to door transport covering the areas of Maroochydore, Bli Bli (South of the bridge), Alexandra Headland, Mooloolaba, Mountain Creek, Glenfield, Buderim, Diddillibah, Kiels Mountain. The availability of the service in your area differs daily and is dependent on availability of vehicles and volunteer drivers.

Book your transport 2 to 4 hours in advance by phoning 5443 2644.

 

 

Transport for Shopping

This service collects the person from their home between 10.30am and 11.15am and transports them to the Sunshine Plaza. At 1.30pm the bus leaves the Plaza to take the passengers home. Assistance will be provided with shopping parcels. The bus is fitted with a hoist for two wheelchairs, with 15 other seats.

 

The cost is $4 return - $6 per couple. To book call 5443 2644.

One bus runs each day Monday to Thursday to the Sunshine Plaza from different areas:

  • Monday – Maroochydore
  • Tuesday – Bli Bl
  • Wednesday – Buderim
  • Thursday - Mountain Creek, Mooloolaba, Alex Headland & Cotton Tree

 

 

Medical and other transport

This is provided on an as needed basis and is dependent on availability of vehicles and volunteer drivers. To book call 5443 2644.

Day Outings and other transport

On the last Saturday of each month enjoy a day out and meet some new friends! The cost of outings and trips vary depending on the venue. Each trip is somewhere different and cost is kept to a minimum. Call 5443 2644 for bookings.

 

For other transport telephone 5443 2644 and every effort will be made to assist with your transport needs. This is dependent on availability of vehicles and volunteer drivers.

 

Referrals

All people who are HACC eligible may receive the service. All transport is dependent on funding and the availability of vehicles and volunteers. No person is refused transport or social support if financially disadvantaged. Please discuss with the Program Manager.
