Residential Respite
Residential Respite Care provides:
- Short breaks for carers and the people they care for. Anyone who is a carer can ask for respite. Respite helps carers to find a balance between caring for others and caring for themselves.
- Residential respite allows the person you care for to have a temporary stay in an residential aged care home where they will be looked after by experienced staff. The person being cared for is entitled to a total of 63 days residential respite per financial year in Commonwealth funded aged care homes.
In order to access this type of residential care, the person needs to have a current Aged Care Assessment (ACAT). However, in an ‘emergency’ we do endeavor to locate a bed if the person has had or has not had an ACAT.
