The Commonwealth Respite & Carelink Centre provides a free service for carers needing to access short term personal care and in-home support in emergency situations occurring outside regular office hours, weekends, public Holidays and between the hours of 4.30pm and 8.30am week days.
The service can be accessed directly by calling us on
1800 052 222 (Freecall except from mobiles)
to be connected to the Emergency After Hours Service.
The call will be answered by an on-call Support Officer from Direct Respite Services who will discuss the most appropriate response to the situation. This could include providing immediate in-home support if needed.
The Emergency After Hours Direct Respite Service can assist carers in times of emergency or crisis.

- A carer having been kept up for consecutive nights and urgently needing a break.
- A carer becoming seriously ill overnight, or on a weekend and needing immediate in-home support for the person being cared for.
- A carer being admitted into hospital and urgently needing immediate in-home support for the person being cared for.
The service can be accessed anytime day or night directly by calling us on
