    Suncare Carebus

    What is the Carebus program?

Carebus is a mobile information unit, run by staff and dedicated volunteers, which distributes a broad range of resources to people across the community.

What service does the Carebus provide?

The Carebus mobile information unit provides an innovative community service by offering ALL members of the community easy access to a broad range of free information relating to:

    • Respite Care
    • Health and well being
    • Disability services
    • Medical conditions
    • Home Assistance and support
    • Seniors and Veterans information
    • Federal, state and local government services

The Carebus unit attends many locations including hospitals, libraries and shopping centres throughout the entire region including communities in the rural and remote areas.

Trained staff and volunteers provide individuals, groups and service providers access to information that can be of great benefit and highlight services that are available in your local area.

    Who funds this?

Suncare receives funding from the National Respite for Carers Program (NRCP) Department of Health and Ageing and our volunteers play an important part in keeping the Carebus on the road.

    Locations

Suncare Community Services operate 6 Carebus Mobile Information Units in total which are based out of Brisbane North, Caboolture, Sunshine Coast, Bundaberg, Hervey Bay and Rockhampton.

    Volunteers

Volunteers are an important part of our community based not for profit Organisation.

    • Do you enjoy greeting and welcoming people?
    • Do you enjoy sharing information with people?
    • Do you like making new friends?

If the answer is “yes” then becoming a Volunteer for the Carebus Mobile Information Unit is right for you.

    • As a volunteer you will have the opportunity to provide individuals, carers, groups and service providers access to information that can be of great benefit as well as highlight services in your local area.
    • Example venues include libraries, hospitals, shopping centres and other community settings.

How Much Time Will it Take?

The time commitment is very flexible – you can decide how many venues/visits you would like to undertake each month. Please call Freecall 1800 052 22 (except from mobiles) for further information.
