Suncare (HACC) Counselling/Support and Information Services for Carers is a HACC (Home and Community Care) funded counselling service available to carers.

What do you do and what service do you provide?
Counselling can mean talking things over, letting off steam, being emotionally supported, and finding practical ways to manage. Counselling is about looking after you!
Suncare’s Carer counselling services are delivered by experienced, degree qualified counsellors, all of whom operate within professional, legal and ethical boundaries.
The Carer Counselling Program provides short term counselling for carers in a safe, non-discriminatory and non-judgmental environment.
Counselling services are provided via:
- Face to face counselling
- Telephone counselling
- In-home counselling
- Group session counselling
- Carer education sessions
- Information sessions

Workshops
Our counsellors also operate workshops designed to enhance and strengthen the well-being of carers throughout the year in the Brisbane North, Pine Rivers, Caboolture, and Sunshine Coast regions. Contact us for current information regarding workshops.
Who is eligible?
The service is available to any carer.
A carer is a relative or friend who is supporting someone with a disability, mental illness, chronic condition, or who is frail aged. Care givers come from all walks of life, cultural backgrounds, and age groups.
Who funds this?
Suncare is funded for Brisbane North and Sunshine Coast HACC (Home and Community Care) regions to provide carer counselling to HACC (Home and Community Care) eligible clients.

Fees and Charges:
The initial counselling session is free and thereafter a contribution of $10 would be welcomed.
However, the Home and Community Care (HACC) fees will be reduced or waived in accordance with the carer’s capacity to pay.
